Step-by-Step Guide
1. Castlerigg Stone Circle
Start your walk by exploring the magnificent Castlerigg Stone Circle. Absorb the atmosphere of this ancient site and its spectacular panoramic backdrop of the Helvellyn and High Seat ranges.
2. Path to Tewet Tarn
From the stone circle, take the quiet lane heading north. Follow the footpaths across fields towards the secluded Tewet Tarn. This is a peaceful spot with wonderful reflections of Blencathra on a calm day.
3. Ascend Low Rigg
From the tarn, a gentle climb takes you onto the spine of Low Rigg. This small but brilliantly positioned fell offers superb views of the Skiddaw range to the north and back towards the stone circle and Helvellyn to the south.
4. The Return Loop
Follow the ridge of Low Rigg before descending on a clear path. The route loops back on quiet paths and lanes, eventually rejoining the road that leads you back to your starting point at the stone circle.

- Ancient History: Managed by English Heritage, Castlerigg is one of Britain's oldest stone circles, constructed around 3000 BC in the Neolithic period.
