Route Sections

1. Pooley Bridge to Howtown

This section takes you along the gentle, eastern shore of Ullswater. You'll pass through farmland and light woodland with lovely views across the lake towards the high fells. It's a relatively easy and peaceful part of the walk.

2. Howtown to Glenridding

Considered the most spectacular and challenging section. The path becomes more rugged and undulating as it hugs the remote shoreline. The views are breathtaking, with a feeling of true wilderness. A highlight is the optional climb up Hallin Fell for a stunning panorama.

3. Glenridding to Aira Force

A shorter and popular stretch that takes you through Glencoyne Park, famed for Wordsworth's daffodils. The path leads you directly to the magnificent Aira Force, a powerful waterfall cascading down a 65-foot drop in a beautiful woodland gorge.

4. Aira Force to Pooley Bridge

The final section meanders through woodland and open farmland on the western side of the lake. It offers different perspectives of Ullswater and the surrounding landscape as you make your way back towards the charming village of Pooley Bridge.
