Summer (June - August)

Appleby Horse Fair

When: Early June 2025

An annual gathering of Gypsies and Travellers in the town of Appleby-in-Westmorland. A culturally significant event, famous for the tradition of washing horses in the River Eden.

Great North Swim

When: June 2025

The UK's biggest open-water swimming event held on Windermere. A fantastic spectacle for both participants and spectators.

Cumberland Show

Ambleside Sports

Kendal Calling

One of the UK's most popular music festivals, set in the beautiful Lowther Deer Park. It features major international artists alongside comedy, arts, and family activities.

Grasmere Lakeland Sports and Show

When: August 2025

A traditional Cumbrian event featuring fell running, hound trails, and Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling. A fantastic day out steeped in local culture.

Autumn (September - November)

Westmorland County Show

When: September 2025

One of the UK's oldest and largest agricultural shows, celebrating farming, food, and rural life. A must-visit for its livestock displays, craft stalls, and local produce.

Kendal Torchlight Carnival

When: September 2025

A spectacular illuminated procession through the streets of Kendal, featuring creative floats, performers, and a fantastic community atmosphere.

Penrith Winter Droving
