Wigton

Wigton

Wigton offers a unique selection of Georgian houses and a classic memorial fountain within the old market place, and is proof of how the town was once a popular and important venue, with narrow lanes, alleyways and streets.

While some well-known literary figures have passed through the town (notably Charles Dickens in 1857) one notable writer and broadcaster was actually born here - Melvin Bragg (later honoured as Lord Bragg of Wigton).
