Askham in furness

Askham in furness

Although the industrial buildings in Askam were demolished in 1933, the town still owes its existence to the iron industry.

The Askam pier, made from slag, is still evident, along with lots of the street names following the iron industry pattern.

Askam in Furness offers stunning views across the Duddon estuary and its long beach that with a unique breeding site for the country's rare Natterjack Toad.
