As one of the more popular Cumbria locations, Cockermouth boasts countryside like you've never seen before, and is located right next to the many awe-inspiring fells and imposing scenery that many have loved in the North Western Area of the Lake District

The River Cocker is situated within Cockermouth, which runs from Loweswater, Crummokc and Buttermere. The River Derwent, which flows from Bassenthwait and Derwent Water, also runs through the village. The Lakes are within easy reaching distance from Cockermouth and provides magnificent scenery for walkers and nature lovers. Fishing fans will enjoy the rivers themselves with sea trout and salmon swimming throughout.

The town is the birthplace of William Wordsworth. One of the towns main attractions is the poet's award-winning childhood home. The ruins of Cockermouth Castle also stand in the town.

Local Produce and Farmers markets are everywhere in the flood cursed town including the famous Jennings Brewery, which produces some of the region's finest ale.

The huge emphasis on art and culture is evident within the huge selection of small shops and attractions, including many festivals that pass through on a yearly basis. Cockermouth also boasts a wide range of accommodation, and has good transport links to nearby towns and cities including Penrith and Keswick.
