Cleator MoorLying in the west of the Lake District is a small pretty town called Cleator, near Cleator Moor in amongst Dent Fell. Due to its location, it is the perfect beginning point for many walks, including the famous 190 mile coast-to-coast walk. A rich history spans the small town based in the iron work industry. Bridleways and Cycle Paths stretch across the old railway line that is no longer used due to the lessening demand of iron.

Cleator Moor is a great springboard for visiting the nearby Lake District National Park. If you hop in the car, the stunning Ennerdale Water, Buttermere and Crummock Water locations are a short drive away. Based on the Cumbrian Coastline, this little village is an idea place to begin your journey, being only a short distance from Whitehaven. If you're looking to stay put, there's a varied selection of attractions, restaurants and accomodation.
